It’s has been a hot summer for PicApp, and not only because of the temperatures outside.
The PicApp team worked hard to bring you, the publishers, this new version with some new exciting features and improvements.
Other than improving PicApp's availability, and fixing some bugs, we also added several new features & changes.
Here are some highlights for this version:
Quick publish window – Publishers can copy the embed code right from the search page, which will save them valuable time as they are eager to complete their post.
Non Flash Image container – Yes, we’re not using Flash anymore to embed the images inside the posts. Using standard HTML & Javascript code, we deliver the PicApp images without Flash container. This will improve the loading time & availability for PicApp images. It will also improved the image compatibility for search engines in terms of SEO (therefore, more traffic to your blogs).
Faster search – PicApp has millions of photos in its inventory, from the world's leading image contributors, and therefore, finding the right image quickly is a challenge. We improved the search time for PicApp's images and improved the search's relevancy.
Guess what? We're already working on the next version…
Thanks for all publishers using PicApp & sending us feedbacks and, keep blogging with PicApp!

Reflecting on our first “we are having a baby“ post from several month ago, it seems that PicApp came a long way. We are in the business of making online publishers’ life easier , enabling them FREE access to a Legal usage of the BEST visual content. Period.
In the last several months we : started and completed closed beta , doubled the amount of images served through new content partners , enhanced the product based on our PicApp community feedback, and strok deals with blog networks who were eager to offer their publishers this amazing content proposition. PicApp also helped hundreds of bloggers express themselves, and enrich their blog posts during the recent Olympic games.
Today, we are happy to share some great news. As our young PicApp grew so nicely , it impressed the good people at Carmel Ventures , who are now going to fund PicApp and help us take it to the next level. We have very ambitious goal - to solve a real problem, and are now better equipped than ever to accomplish this goal.
Yes , you all know the story by now , 90% of the images used online infringe the copyrights owner rights. But than again, all bloggers want is to create attractive content to fascinate their readers, and it is so complex and expensive to license an editorial image to compliment the blog post or article. This is where PicApp ‘comes in the picture’ : ) - with a growing set of tools, and an enormous number of searchable images (more than 10mm!) PicApp is built to serve the online publisher’s needs while helping content owners maintain control of their image and receive online advertising based royalties. PicApp is “making lemonade when life serves you lemons.” (Om Malik)
PicApp is now an independent business entity , that is solely focused on providing the best content to the best publishers. Creating PicApp and bringing it to what it is today is a huge achievement to the smart and entrepreneurial people of PicScout . The PicApp team thanks you for the endless support and friendships , we know we have high mountains to climb now and we are all very excited and motivated to continue.
For our users - your feedback in the last several months was key enabler to the product improvment. We listened and we promise to continue listening. Our new picapp version is design to increase traffic to your image-enriched’ blog posts while providing you with much more content that is better and faster - let us know what you think!
Stay tune!
Thanks for visiting us again! ..and don’t forget to come and party with us during BlogWorldExpo (booth 211) !
