we got a nice tip from our friends today that picapp was mentioned live on the MSNBC KNTV’s Press : Here Show.
The round table discussion was about the YouNoddle tool which provides calculated guesses for start ups valuation. based on the short intro for the show , picapp is marked as one of the start ups that is on the track to success. we also went and check what the Younoodle score thinks we worth and ….well , lets say we wish all of our last year investment charts would look like the chart they drafted for picapp. I think this tool , as any other new tool ( including picapp) still has a lot of place for improvements and agree that if they will be able to hit 1 of 9 , it will still be a revolutionary thing.
we, at the picapp team, still have lots of work and execution to do on our end as we must play in the start up game (we need to score 1 of 1 ) , but this video was , indeed, a nice way to open Sunday morning with : )
thanks for Sarah Lacy , Scott Mecgrew and Maggie Shiels for including picapp in the show intro!

During the last 12 months we (take a deep breath):
Launched PicApp as closed beta and were chosen for the Israeli Web-Tour, then we signed content partnerships with the world leading photo agencies, then after much appreciated user feedback (“making lemonade when life serve you lemons”), we launched to open beta, then we launched a non-flash version of the picapp product to increase SEO for our users, and if that was not enough - we spun off from our “mother ship company” into an independent entity – and moved offices!!.
Then we closed our A round with Carmel Ventures and released our partners API, then we launched our new plug in for WP.org and added even more content - lots of editorial, news and even paparazzi (now north of 20mm images) …and then we had to scale our infrastructure after some hiccups, but came out even stronger, and then we announced very exciting partnerships with professional blog networks that know the value high-end content brings to their users and advertisers.
Throughout the year we met many of our users in various events, got their feedback, had few good laughs (and drinks) and often went back to the drawing board to improve our product and make it sync with what our users and partners need. Wooow…what a year!
Perhaps this is why PC-magazine chosen us to its top undiscovered 100 websites list!
There are many new things you will see during 2009 that we can’t share yet
Personally I am very proud of what we achieved so far and very proud of our hard working team in Israel and SF. We still have a long journey ahead — to make picapp the tool of choice for bloggers to use high-end content and spice up their blogs.
Barak Berkowitz, Yaron Galai, Jeremy Wright and David Sifry (check out his new company!)– Special thanks for all the ongoing support and good advice!
Heads up–We plan to be even busier in 2009!
Happy Holidays everyone!
